Cold Shut

  • Trade size from 3/16" to 3/4"
  • Working load limits from 525 to 6,900 lbs.
  • Zinc-plated and self-colored
  • Use 1 size larger cold shut than chain size for comparable strength

Connecting Link

  • Hot forged using special bar quality steel.
  • Heat treated for strength and increased wear.
  • Meets or exceeds Fed. Spec. RR-C-271D Type II
  • Marked with size and grade (G3) for proper application.
  • Design load equals 4 times working load limit.
  • Precision parts mate together easily for better fit.
  • Interlocking lugs and integral rivets on sizes except 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" which have rivets only.
  • Clear protective finish resists rust. Also available in electro-galvanized finish. Hot dip galvanized available
    upon request.

    IMPORTANT: Big Orange connecting links are designed for use as repair links for G30 chain only.

    They are not to be used for lifting and not to be used for load securement (tie-down).

CM offers a wide range of welded chains. All chains meet or exceed requirements of NACM & ASTM standards. All chain is proof tested to insure you get the highest quality chain in the market. Listed below you will find a summary of chain specifications, which can be used as a comparison when selecting the chain for your application. Only Herc-Alloy 1000 or Herc-Alloy 800 chain should be used for overhead lifting.

High Test Chain-grade 43

National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) Welded Chain Specifications 1999

Gr-43, commonly called High Test, is manufactured to meet ASTM & NACM specifications. Typical uses include container securement, logging, towing, and marine industry. Gr-43 is available in many finishes and package configurations. "Gr-43 is not to be used for overhead lifting".

Typical uses include barrier chains, trailer safety chains, light construction marine industry, etc. Gr-30 is available in a wide assortment of finishes and packaged configurations. "Gr-30 is not to be used for overhead lifting".
