ASME B30.16 safety standards for overhead hoists
All hand chain, electric or air operated hoists that have not
been used within the preceding 12 months or hoists in
which load sustaining parts have been altered, replaced or
repaired shall be tested before being placed into service
by or under the direction of an appointed person and a
record of the test should be made.
